"Could you believe me if I said I'd been right out of the world — outside this world — last summer?"
Eustace, to Jill Pole
This article covers a subject that does not exist in the Chronicles.

Template:Film infobox The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair was meant to be an epic fantasy film based on The Silver Chair, the fourth published novel in 'The Chronicles of Narnia' series.  It was to be a sequel to the The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but unfortunately was cancelled.

Production

Originally, the film was slated to be the fourth in the Chronicles of Narnia film series, as announced at the end of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but 20th Century Fox and Walden Media had then decided to make The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew the next film instead. In June 2011 Walden Media's film option for The Chronicles of Narnia was allowed to expire, and a seven year moratorium on producing Narnia films outside Walden Media began. In May 2012 Douglas Gresham stated that The Silver Chair would be the next film produced.

On October 1, 2013 it was announced that the C.S. Lewis company has partnered with the Mark Gordon Company to jointly develop and produce the film. In December two-time Academy Awards nominatee David Magee was hired to write the screenplay.

In August 2016, it was announced that TriStar Pictures would distribute the film and co-finance it with The Mark Gordon Company and EOne.

Joe Johnston was announced as director on April 27, 2017. Filming is expected to take place in New Zealand and begin in late 2018, with a planned release date in 2020, a decade after the release of Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

It has since been confirmed that the film has been cancelled. Netflix has purchased the rights to it and is developing their own Narnia series and movies.
