"Could you believe me if I said I'd been right out of the world — outside this world — last summer?"

Template:Film infobox The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair is an upcoming epic fantasy film based on The Silver Chair, the fourth published novel in 'The Chronicles of Narnia' series.

Production

Originally, the film was slated to be the fourth in the Chronicles of Narnia film series, as announced at the end of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but 20th Century Fox and Walden Media had then decided to make The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew the next film instead.

Recent news by Douglas Gresham states, though, that they would go with their original intention, and make The Silver Chair the next film after all, though it appears he wishes to do the films independently, without Walden.

The reason for this was the difficulties faced in the movie series from its alleged inclination to Christianity, leading the franchise to be the target of criticisms from Atheists for being Christian Propaganda, and by Christian critics for distorting Lewis's Christian Message and for spreading blasphemous works.

"The Silver Chair", as opposed to its predecessors and "The Magician's Nephew", does not contain explicit religious themes, which in turn relieves concerned fans.

It was announced on 1 October 2013 that the CS Lewis company has partnered with the Mark Gordon company to jointly develop and produce the film.

In August 2016, it was announced that the Silver Chair will be made by Sony-based TriStar Pictures, The Mark Gordon Company, The C.S. Lewis Company, and Entertainment One (eOne). The film will be financed by TriStar, eOne and The Mark Gordon Company with Sony and eOne distributing the picture. Mark Gordon, C.S. Lewis’ stepson Douglas Gresham, Vincent Sieber, and Melvin Adams will produce the film. Life Of Pi and Finding Neverland scribe David Magee adapted the script.

Joe Johnston was announced as director on April 27, 2017.

The film is scheduled for release December 2018.
