Orknies were followers of the White Witch during her reign in Narnia.
They were present at Aslan's Sacrifice at the Stone Table, and fought in the White Witch's Army at the First Battle of Beruna.
It is most likely that they were least concern by the time the Pevensies left Narnia at the end of the Golden Age, or by the time the Telmarines arrived and began their rule.
Orknies have the head of the human, horns of a cow, tail of a scorpion, wings of a vulture, feathers of a peacock of the back, and the spotted body with legs and feet of a leopard.
- "...other creatures whom I won't describe because if I did the grown-ups would probably not let you read this book."
- ―C.S.Lewis[src]
Behind the scenes[]
- Orknies may have been based on Orknies from Celtic mythology. They may also have a connection with the creatures mentioned in Beowulf, or the Orcs from Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
