- For other categories of animals, see Talking animals and Supernatural beings.
This page is a complete list of all animals (plus some creatures and beings) native to the World of Narnia that lacked higher-level intelligence, and therefore, the ability to speak or comprehend human language. It is to be treated as a masterpost for both the Chronicles and all the adaptations.
At the creation of Narnia, Aslan gave all the animals the choice to either maintain their superior intelligence (meaning the ability to, for example, speak human language) or give it up. He then ordered that these animals who had "chosen not to speak" should be looked after by the talking animals and that talking animals in turn, should be ruled by humans. It is unknown if non-talking animals had souls like their talking counterparts. If so, it can be presumed that their souls entered Aslan's Country upon death.
