London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. It was also the original home to several important figures of Narnian history, including several Narnian Kings and Queens.

History[]

1900[]

In 1900, Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer lived in London.

After they were carried by magic rings from London into the Wood Between the Worlds and World of Charn, they returned, bringing Jadis with them. After Jadis arrived on Earth, she took Digory's Uncle Andrew on a rampage through London, smashing and stealing a great many valuable items.

Through the use of the rings, Digory and Polly managed to bring Jadis and Uncle Andrew, as well as The Cabby and his horse Fledge, from London into the World of Narnia.

After their adventures in Narnia, Digory, Polly and Uncle Andrew returned to London, and Digory planted the apple from the Tree of Protection in the Ketterley's back garden where it grew into the tree, from whose wood eventually became the Wardrobe. Digory and Polly later buried the rings around the young tree.

1940[]

For more details on this topic, see Wikipedia:The Blitz.

The Blitz began on the 7th of September in 1940, which lasted for 57 consecutive days or nights, where the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) bombed cities in London. During this time, there were mass evacuations of the city (some 250,000 people were moved in the first six weeks alone).

The government arranged free travel and billeting allowances for children, the elderly, the disabled, pregnant women, or the ill. It was during this time that the Pevensies left London and went to live with Digory Kirke at his house.

1949[]

In 1949, after seeing a vision of the distressed King Tirian, the Seven Friends of Narnia determined upon getting back to Narnia. Peter Pevensie and Edmund Pevensie, dressed as workmen, returned to London to dig up the magic rings. However, on the train back, there was a wreck, and the Friends were killed and entered the Aslan’s Country.
