"All you have heard about Old Narnia is true. It is not the land of Men. It is the country of Aslan, the country of the Waking Trees and Visible Naiads, of Fauns and Satyrs, of Dwarfs and Giants, of the gods and the Centaurs, of Talking Beasts."

Giants were a huge, humanoid race who generally inhabited the northern lands of the world of Narnia. It is possible that the world of Charn was also home to giants, as it is believed that Jadis was part Jinn and part Giant.

Giants generally range from about 10 to perhaps 30 feet tall, making them the tallest of Narnia's inhabitants, dwarfing even Aslan. They are less intelligent than humans, but are smarter than Trolls, Ogres and Cyclopes despite their large size.

Nationalities of Giants[]

Narnian[]

Giantsarmy

Giants of Jadis' Army.

Southern or Narnian Giants of Narnia were kindly, though not known for cleverness. Notable examples include Rumblebuffin, Wimbleweather, and Stonefoot. They fought on the Narnian side in the First_Battle_of_Beruna_(Walden) and at the Battle of Anvard in the Golden Age of Narnia. There were also some rogue Narnian Giants that were members of the White Witch's Army. They participated in the sacrifice of Aslan and the battle of Beruna.

Ettinmoorish[]

The Ettins lived in the land of Ettinsmoor north of Narnia. Ettins are giants that had either two heads or four arms, but never both. They were extremely unintelligent and violent by nature, fighting numerous battles with Narnia, most notably the Ettinsmoor War.

They also served Jadis during the Winter Revolution in her Army.

They amused themselves by throwing stones at cairns. However, they were generally very bad shots.

It is not known if they had a language different from Narnians, or whether they were too stupid for language.

Historically, in Age of Conquest, the Ettins in Ettinsmoor were an intelligent species who build dwellings all over their country along with their neighboring Giants to their north. In the Age of Winter however, the Ettins deteriorated into their brutish selves and their society became anarchistic but their northern Giant neighbors were still civilized for many more centuries.

Northerner[]

The Giants of Harfanger.

The civilized Giants of the Great Northern Plain lived in the castle of Harfang, close to the northern border of the Wild Lands of the North.

These 12 to 15 foot tall giants were the descendants of an ancient race of extremely intelligent giants who ruled a great kingdom in the far north, of which the Great Northern River was only the southern boundary.

The Harfangers were one of a few groups of Giants who had a system of government and a societal structure.

They were renowned for their great Autumn_Feast_(books), at which they ate many things, including man-pie. Their hunting parties ranged as far south as northern Narnia, where a great bridge connected their country of the Wild Lands of the North to Ettinsmoor between.

Their capital was presumably the Ruined City of the Giants but it was destroyed in a war sometime in the Dark Age of Narnia. By the Age of Exploration, Harfang was a rump state of the ''Giant Civilization'' that likely in earlier centuries reviled the Calormen Empire, but by the Golden Age of Narnia, the Ettins were a mere nuisance, as were the Giants by the Dark Age.

Father Time[]

Father Time

The personification of time is a one-of-a-kind giant.

Father Time is a one-of-a-kind giant native to Narnia. Once ruling another Overland kingdom in the world of Narnia, he spent most of his life in a deep sleep in Underland. He is far larger than any other giant in the Narnian world, but has a "noble and beautiful" face.

Fulfilling his prophecy, he was personally called by Aslan to put the Sun out.
