The Chronicles of Narnia Wiki

Mr. Pevensie was the head of the Pevensie family, husband to Helen Pevensie, and the father of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie. His first name is unknown.

Mr. Pevensie was a professor who may or may not have had a sister who grew up to become Alberta Scrubb, but it is unknown, as the exact relationship between the Pevensies and the Scrubbs is unclear.

At some time, he married his wife, Helen Pevensie. In 1927, their son Peter was born, followed by Susan in 1928, Edmund in 1930, and Lucy in 1932.

In 1940, he was called away to war, during which his children were all evacuated to the country, where they stayed with Professor Kirke, and eventually found their way into Narnia. It is unknown when Mr. Pevensie returned home.

In 1942, Mr. Pevensie traveled to America to lecture at universities there, taking his wife and daughter Susan with him. At the same time, his son Peter was staying with Professor Kirke again, studying for his exams, while Edmund and Lucy were staying with their Aunt Alberta, Uncle Harold and cousin Eustace Scrubb.

In 1949, while on a trip to visit family, he was killed in a train wreck.

Most of his family died with him. After their deaths, all were permitted to live in Aslan's Country.

  • Mr. Pevensie was known to dislike telephones, according to his son Edmund.
  • In an original draft of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', Mr. Pevensie is said to be a soldier away at war. Though it isn't mentioned in any of the published novels, most adaptations of the series take this as fact, as many men in Britain were sent away to fight in WWII.
  • In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Disney movie), Mr. Pevensie appears in a photograph. The photograph is in actuality one of film editor Sim Evan-Jones' father, who died at war.
